What Are Errands?
Ohhh, okay. Let's see. I'm a little fuzzy about the exact nature of errands,
so I'll try to answer as best I can. Errands are like good works you do. These
civilians (wandering NPCs) will be seeking specific items. When you give them
the items they're looking for, they will give you a small bit of money and each
completed errand quest adds points to your errand meter. The number of points
you get per errand will depend on the degree of difficulty to complete the
errand. The harder it is to get the errand item, the more points it will give
you.
Just ASK [civilian] ABOUT ERRAND, and s/he will tell you what s/he is looking
for. When you have the item, GIVE [item] TO [civilian]. Usually these civilians
don't stick around for long, so you would have to have the item on you in order
to complete the errand quest.
How Do I Get the Errand Items?
I've listed some of the items needed for errand quests below.
Depending on the item, it can be foraged, purchased, skinned, found in a critter
box, crafted, cooked, prepared or obtained through any number of methods. Some items are
exclusive and very difficult to get and some items are very easily obtained. If
there's a nice experienced player around, you may sometimes find errand items
donated in the donation box. Try not to be too greedy by taking more than one of
each item if possible.
What Do I Get From these Errands?
Ummm, good question! I believe this system is still being worked. It seems
that the idea is once you have earned a certain number of points on your Errand
Meter, you will be eligible to get something special.
Currently, the only perk of your Errand Meter is that you can enter the Royal
Family's Private Training Grounds (Aesha Vale). The Training Grounds is a special area which
have some training areas, shops (alchemy, embroidery, tech), places to buy
skill-related items such as fishing, alchemy, and...umm...other stuff. Besides
the shopping for nice skill-related items, the major appeal of this area is the weapons and armor upgrade shop.
(I believe that this area is also being worked on, and there may be more shops
among other things that will be offered in the future.) At the moment, the only
real appeal is the upgrading of weapon and armor quality, different tailoring
materials, and places where you get +14 bonus to skills like alchemy, tailoring,
and sculpting (I'm not sure what are all the bonuses).
How Do I Know If I Have Enough Points to Get to the Training Grounds?
You need to go see the PR Officer Talra. ASK TALRA ABOUT ERRAND to get an idea
of how far up the "good works" scale you're at by her standards. Talra will let
you know if you're eligible to enter. By the way, entry is a one-time deal. Once
you leave the Grounds, you'll have to earn all those points over again before
you can re-enter.
Whee!! Killing the Civilians!!
Yay! You just cost yourself major penalty points!! Congratulations!! You will
need to complete a LOT of errands before you're forgiven for your heinous act of
cruelty. The penalties are a lot stiffer than the rewards. So if you kill a
bunch of civilians and your meter was at or below 0, expect to spend a long, long, long, long time of errand
running before you're close to being forgiven by Talra.
Another thing to note: If one of your group members kills a civilian, you and
your other group members will suffer
a penalty too.
If I Reallocate, Will My Errand Meter Still Be the Same?
Nope. When you reallocate, your earned errand points will revert to 0.
What about the people?
Below is a list of the people who you can do errands for. Just ASK [person]
ABOUT ERRAND and he/she will tell you what is sought. They come in the form of
a/an:
